434. The mob invades

Versailles

Back to Versailles to do the Palace today and as expected, it was amazing, must have cost a bundle, no wonder the peasants reacted.
The second fence to the large inner courtyard

The First Chateau, the original building stands in the middle
The Kings Bedchamber is on the first floor, the balcony
supported by the eight red columns.
The is the balcony where Louis XVI, Marie Antonette and the child
appeared to face the mob before being taken away

The Kings Bedchamber
The gold fence is original
The apartments are quite stunning

The Gallery of Battles is just that, the works are vast
I think this is twenty five metres wide
The Royal Chapel second story

The very famous Hall of Mirrors where the
Treaty of Versailles was signed by the allies in 1919

433. Gardening

Versailes

Headed off later in the day for Versailles as it is not that far from camp. Discovered that the palace closed at six but it was a cold and clear evening and the gardens were to remain open, free entry, till seven.
Not a bad park
The Palace is extensive
Former administration buildings across the way
Through the gold gates into this exquisiteness
Walk round the left of the Palace to the gardens.
This is looking from the gardens
Three major fountains down to the lake
Raven or Rook, maybe a Jackdaw, possibly a crow?
Fountain of Latona

Apollon Fountain looking toward the Grand Canal

Bassin de Flore (1672-1679)

Amazing moat to give a clear view from the Palace

432. Sconed

Paris

Looks like we might have to do
the Eiffel Tower again.
I am the small fella on the right.
Love the fireworks and searchlight.
On the roof to get the 2x3s beside the roof box so that I
can take Teasel off the Disco.
Another deserted campsite
This weir makes a lovely sound drowning out any traffic noise.
Doesn't't feel like we are well within Paris
Awning reroof continues to do well
The broken roof bar
Kept well left and still hit.
The bars are quite wide
Floor was quite a slope also
Appointment made, it was back into town. Headed into an underground garage with 1.9m clearance which is usually OK and three floors underground, struck the roof with one of my wide wooden roof bars, breaking it.
Easy number for Roman to remember
Had to back up the steep ramp and into a side bay which was dicy. No tools to take the rack off until Audrey remembered that the socket in the drivers door compartment which I managed to Heath-Robertson onto the Disco's tool kit screwdriver. Getting the bars and racks off was quite an ordeal, I even managed to simultaneously hit myself in the face and bang my head on the concrete ceiling, blooding my face in the process, needed a little quiet time after that.

Topped up here also
5 years old, not bad
Took Jacquelines iPhone into a specialist to have the battery replaced. Forty euro and fifteen minutes later it was all done so we headed into Galeries Lafayette to meet up with Jacqueline and Iris. The window displays, by different suppliers were outstanding.

Wizard World
Hmmm, I'm not the biggest fan of Sylvanian Families
The Lego Harry Potter display was enchanting

Audrey and Roman
Quiddich
Inside the store, those are perfume counters way down there
Leaving Jacqueline to it in the store we headed for the free games centre and cell phone charging place at opera, the Apple Store in a converted bank. Complete with vault downstairs.

... but they got us in the end.
Little details abound in Paris. Spotted the plaque on the left on a building while we were walking to the car. How it appears when viewed using the Translate App on my phone (very clever and useful).

Details like this are sobering.
