ISPRA, ITALY
The children are on a roll, completing to see who can complete their year level on MathsBuddy first. Surprisingly it looks like Fyfe is going to win much to Iris' chagrin as Fyfe knocks a few modules off every day while Iris is getting organised and has a quick glance at a book, any book, for about four hours. Iris blames the books and the unfairness of it all.
Finally headed for Lake d'Orta, about an hour away, home of Alessi with both a shop and a museum. The gods were with us, a truck with a blown tyre blocking a tunnel for half an hour on the way meaning that we only had about forty minutes after arriving before the shop closed. The museum is not open to the public but to groups by invitation, what ever that means. I was braced to inhibit Jacqueline's enthusiasm for Italian tat but was not expecting to be seduced myself. I was saved twice, first by the lack of stock when looking at a large pan and secondly by the lack of time when looking at a cutlery set for the Giantavan - I was definitely under the influence.
The factory is huge with not much happening as like everybody, the bulk of their manufacturing is done in China. Drove home down Lake d'Orta which was lovely.

A lucky escape from Alessi; although we still have the salt and pepper pots we bought when we were under the spell 25 years ago. Keep out of the coffee machine shops
