65. Brian, Sheena and Mary

SAINT-JEAN-DE-LUZ - FRANCE (NEAR SPAIN)

Swimming was the priority of the day, this morning.  The thermometer had made heady progress to twenty four degrees but it was enough to get me in (with much badgering from Audrey). My swim was brief on account of the temperature. I was keen to get back to Mr Bryson's travels.

After lunch I got the wooden roof bars off the Disco and sanded ready for painting when I fell into conversation with our neighbour Brian and Sheena who, it turns out, are doing the same as us and traveling with their daughter Mary who is the same age as Audrey. They are in a beautiful new motorhome but the challenges are much the same.  Like us, they took weeks after they moved out of their house to get everything sorted but unlike us did not have a site like Jago and Lucy's to camp which made it much more difficult for them.

Much standing around yarning and swapping anecdotes with, for once, us being the old hands as Brian and Sheena have only been on the road for a week and the whole getting away being so fraught they were wondering if they were doing the right thing.  Conversation transferred back to the pool due to coercion from the children, then to the supermarket as we decided to do a joint BBQ then into the Giantavan into the evening.

When we caravanned in Wales and Cornwall we enjoyed meeting many families but on this trip we have meet some lovely retirees but not families so meeting Brian and Sheena has been a real treat.  The children fell upon Mary, competing for her attention. For tomorrow, the children are planning a Monopoly game with Mary then all off to some local fair that Mary saw a poster promoting.  Though I protested in the strongest terms as one must when the children suggest anything other than dishes or home work, I am quite looking forward to it actually.
