118.2. Farewell Pat

CONIL DE LA FRONTERA, CADIZ, SPAIN

Roman with Pat & Margaret
Jacqueline just received the sad news that her father Pat has died which was a paradime shift for us all, particularly Jacqueline. The children were sweet and gave Jacqueline lovely group and individual hugs which was nice. Jacqueline is glad she got to spend a couple of weeks with her Dad in November though, like us all in this situation, wishing she had another opportunity.

Pat always impressed me with his ability to make conversation with anyone. He definitely was a people person and knew how to engage on a personal level. At my parents Golden Wedding celebration I noted that Pat, throughout the day engaged most in conversation and made a particular point of talking to anyone standing alone. Pat was an accomplished guitarist though reluctant to perform, possibly because he had been so proficient as a member of two bands when Jacqueline was a girl and maybe he now found it frustrating. During dinner we talked about when Jacqueline was a girl, Pat had built the family caravan from scratch in the garage, dragged it out, put wheels under it and they used it for years before selling it. Pat was also an accomplished artist who held himself to very high standards. Pat was a gentleman, we will miss him.
