Lake Annecy
While sorting accommodation with the office for staying till the thirtieth two large and heavy boxes turned up from Rimmer Bros. Yet to look in them but good that they have finally arrived.

Disco update from Amo.
Glad that they found the problem (bloody EGR valves - terrible things) |
This afternoons excursion was to cycle the rail trail to the head of Lake Annecy a not insignificant eleven kilometre ride, with deviations in each direction, particularly for Roman.

First stop selfie by Fyfe...... |

Probably the best rail trail I have ridden |

Beautiful thirty two degree day |
We counted nearly fifty paraponters, many thousands of feet above the peaks |
Making hay everywhere even in fields down to tennis court size,
including hand raking bits that escape |
Roman already in the tunnel |
Popped out of the tunnel to this |
Beautifully recreated station. There was a boy blatting round on an electric bike, very impressive.
Many electric bikes on the trail, many not even peddling and going very fast.
Basically electric mopeds. |

From Douglas - That's a fireless loco, a shunter attached to a factory that has a large steam boiler.
You tank it up, go shunting, then when it gets low, you chuff back to the hose and tank up again.
Very clean and economical |
Panarama from the head of the lake |
Still over thirty at six thirty so we went for a long lake swim - delicious |
Roman enjoyed a large rock |
Obviously Ro and I had to stop on the way back for another look. |
Ro found a winch on the front.
Maybe to pull timber up to the rail? Steep inclines? |
The elder two went off ahead. |
It really was this idillic |

What a brilliant outing!
ReplyDeleteClearly the EGR valve had been fitted by a dodgy mechanic ...
