330. Amped

Innsbruck

Loose plan for the day was to head into Innsbruck and explore the area as it was a wettish day - that was the plan....

What actually happened was that Roman's friend Jason's dad, Edwin, came over for a morning coffee. On learning that he too had an electronics business that designs develops and distributes their own brand of product there were so many parallels to our business that I couldn't tear myself away. It was only when Edwin got roped into being banker for the children's game of Monopoly our conversation paused so I took the chance to get Teasel loaded onto the Disco. Once the game was maturing and Edwin made his escape we continued the conversation. Edwin's business is music, ours is motorsport. They make tube amps, we Engine Management, Koch / Link, same but different markets, same back story, same opportunities. I learnt a lot and gave me a great deal to think about and that was pretty much the whole day. We all, the AP included, found the conversation to be extremely interesting.

We are hoping that Edwin and family will visit us in NZ, May next year.

After dropping the AP back to her hotel at tenish, Cousin Kay phoned from Edinburgh for a catchup. She and John recently returned from Australia where, amongst other things she explored the places that our Great Grandfather, Granville Ramage served during his time as a Presbyterian minister there, Melbourne, Benidgo, Sydney?, in the late eighteen hundreds. My grandmother often stated that it was the flies that drove her parents back to England, a statement that I doubted till I revisited the Powerhouse Museum about ten years ago with our head engineer at the time Stephen and viewed the exhibit on how Australia dealt with the fly problem in the early twentieth century. Anyway, Kay is a wealth of information and I will get the AP to phone then get myself up to speed as it is a fascinating history for the family.

  1. Hi philip,
We arrived home safely at exactly 18.00 as planned, just in time for dinner. It was a great pleasure meeting you and your family and like you the talks were more than interesting and i guess we could have kept on talking for days. I really hope we will be able to come over to NZ but in the meantime we stay in touch and i will continue to read your blog. Enjoy the rest of the trip. All the best, Ed

Would be great if you can make it to Kiwiland. In the meantime let's keep in touch and keep pushing the business ideas.
