331. The Cambridge Roller

Eging, Barvaria, Germany

Four and a half hours at Giantavan speed
Emailed the next camp and asked if a room for the AP had come available this morning and the gods were smiling so that makes things easy for all with her on site.

Batman in NZ
Jason (Edwin's son) and Roman
Best mates for the week
Elected to stay off the motorways as it was significantly shorter and we can't use the autobahn unlimited speed advantage as we limit our speed to eighty and days go by without revving the Disco over twenty five hundred. Oh for a decent car, our Batman sits happily at two hundred plus and would be wonderful over here, particularly as ninety eight octane fuel is readily available. One can only dream. Fabulous drive cross country discussing the farms with my Mum as we go and listening to Stephen Fry read Harry Potter.

Grandma (The AP) & Roman
Lunch stop with tractor in background
Stopped for lunch on the way and a farmer turned up with a very nice eight meter, three piece Cambridge roller on rubber tyres, hydraulically operated (see photo left). We had Cambridge rollers on our farm and had to crawl between farms on the road so I was very impressed. The gear over here is impressive, the pastures full of weeds a combination that spells subsidies for mile after mile. Arrived at the camp to find the office closed but everything organised. The AP's room is lovely, with ensuite and we had a free choice of site. Picked a lovely site under the trees, close to the AP. Campground only half full, cheap with wonderful facilities. no idea why it was so hard to get a site.
