239. Nice derrière

Avignon

It occurred to me tonight, tucking the children up into bed that I can't really imagine living a normal life in a house, yet, I know that once we return all this will become a slightly unreal memory. My life, for now is wrapped up in this mobile box we call the Giantavan.

Jockey wheel
An impressive carton
Very relieved this morning that the large thirteen hundred euro order of repair stuff for the Giantavan turned up in two large boxes. The new jockey wheel assembly is heavy and in a separate box and the lightweight plastic bumper bar is over two and a half metres long - tis a wide load this ere Giantavan. New tail light assemblies completed the order. (We lost the lot in Lisbon, see here).

I immediately set to, with Roman while the others went back into town shopping. Reworking out the remarkably complicated wiring was not helped by some of it stopping working. Spend ages trying to find ground loops or failures only to discover that the Disco had gone flat so that when I connected the clearance lights (eight) along the sides of the Giantavan as well, the battery would fail.
Fyfe removing staples
Roman was a tremendous help running to the Disco with a walkie-talkie turning on various combinations of lights.

Happy to be removing the particularly crappy lights
Getting there
Got most of the installation done just need to attach the new panelling at the bottom. Can't really call it a bumper bar as it is so lightly made.

Unfortunately, I did not realise that the bumper bar required two number plate lights so have ordered one on eBay in the UK for Jacqueline to collect next month when she is over with Audrey.

Hopefully we can get back on the road, Sunday.
