248. Back Tracked

Aix-en-Provence

Our route
Let these three in front of us
then turned the air to recirculate
due to the petrol fumes
Great sites all the way
Back tracked a little today with the family to Aix-en-Provence, which I drive Jacqueline mad by continually, for some reason, unknown to me, call it Axe in Provence.

Fantastic slow drive avoiding tolls and motorways through vineyards and charming villages. Today and tomorrow are, yet again, public holidays. So much to see on these deserted secondary roads. I thank others gps in their default setting dragging everybody onto the dual carriage ways and motorways.

Fontaine de la Rotonde, from the car while circling,
in the middle of town, our gps arrival point.
We parked fifty metres away.
Chasing bubbles by the fountain
Fyfe flattened this kid who was un-phased.
Pleased to see Fyfe so caring afterwards
Bubble chase face, Roman and Audrey
Place d'Albertas, a small cobblestone square with a fountain in its center,
lined by charming buildings
Paroisse Cathédrale Saint Sauveur
Unimposing from the outside, didn't know anything about it,
beautiful on the inside with beautiful decorations
and a full immersion baptism font for adults.
Fresh Christmas lilies and a organist practising was wonderful
Wandered in here also then had five, including Jacqueline
expressing needs.
Apple must have lubricated the right contacts to build on the square
Beautiful Town Hall square
Love these drinking fountains for horses
with the rails for townspeople to fill buckets
Stumbled upon this which was sobering
Loved the Musée des Tapisseries as it was in a former apartment
which gave us the chance to see behind the facades that one admires from the street
and it was free entry
We were virtually the only ones there so could wander at will

  1. Love Aix. My favourite French town. Can't believe Apple was able to build that right on La Fontaine de la Rotonde - b*****ds. Wonder how many palms they had to grease to pull that one off.

    1. The town wasn't a particular stand out for me, what was it about the town that made you fond of it?

As for the Apple building, it doesn't detract from the centre. There is a huge amount of modern buildings around that fountain.
